Jonas Brothers

Okay, I know that a lot of people prefer to hate these guys, call them Disney sellouts, but these guys are really great. Fantastic lyrics, catchy music - they're just plain addictive. I myself was requested these guys while songfic-ing and LOVED their song SOS, which encouraged me to get that album (Jonas Brothers) and encouraged me to get their next album (A Little Bit Longer). They are VERY inspirational - in fact, several of their tracks are in the official Catty playlist.

LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Tracks of theirs that I love:
  • SOS
  • Hold On
  • Goodnight and Goodbye
  • Australia
  • Games
  • When You Look Me In The Eyes
  • Inseperable
  • Just Friends
  • Hollywood
  • Burnin' Up
  • Shelf
  • Lovebug
  • Can't Have You
  • Video Girl
  • Got Me Going Crazy
  • A Little Bit Longer

. . . okay, I'm definitely buying the next album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times. I'm hooked.

Go listen.

SUPERNATURAL IS BACK.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Honestly, this is the best news ever. Aussies, I won't blame you for going over the moon about this. I am, anyway. :S

Supernatural was taken off LAST YEAR, and it's been announced that it is returning on Monday May 4th at Channel Ten, 9:30pm. FINALLY.

This calls for celebratory Eye of the Tiger.

"Lies" by McFly

This particular song is EXACTLY what I mean when I was talking about the injustice in the world. The lyrics are so meaningful, and the video isn't bad either. LOVE. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Anyway, happy listening!

Back to school. Blegh.

Yeah, it's back to school. Nothing much exciting. I had to miss a day for the Gold Coast holiday, and now I have to go back to school.

I had an epiphany about the world. It's pretty corrupt. No, it's VERY corrupt. Ever picked up rubbish because you WANTED to, not because you were told to? So many people don't bother about that, and they miss the point entirely. Melbourne friends have heard this before (and I guess it rubbed off on me), but it's putting people below you, to have to FORCE themselves to clean up after you. Disgusting. And I'm not just saying that because it's usually me.

What I'd like to say is that I'm sorry for any injustice I caused. I'd like to reverse it if possible. And I want to help people, I really do.

Shelly's holiday to the Gold Coast

Wow. Gold Coast. It's like Vegas in paradise. Oh, wait, there was a shop by that name. My first real holiday. My first time on a plane. Gold Coast is just . . . WOW.

The plane ride going I was panicked. Very. The plane coming back was a LOT better.
A sad visual of today's world. Taken at Melbourne Airport.

Highlights:
  • The Superman Escape ride at Movie World. OMG. FANTASTIC. A must. YOU MUST. WOW. I went on it twice. Read at the link if you want specifics. I APPROVE.
  • Seeing a LOT of people drunk on Saturday night. They were funny.
  • Melbourne Airport is GREAT. Endless shopping bliss.
  • Waiting for queues for Wet 'n' Wild. Those queues were CRAZY. One of them I was in for half an hour!
  • Our room. It was VERY nice.
  • Passing the Clock Hotel when the clock struck. That turned heads.

And yeah. I think that's everything. Had a great time. Next stop, America. When I can get the money. :D

Supernatural

Seriously, this TV show is tied with NCIS in my book. Really, LOVE.

All the Supernatural creatures involved are just fantastic. Every episode is golden, and I use this show when referring to borderline gore: lots of shows either have too much or too little. Supernatural gets it spot on. Well, NCIS does too, but Supernatural is number one.

The Winchester brothers. Sam and Dean. I'm a Sammy girl myself. :D

Really, this show is just beyond awesome. Buy the DVDs. Watch on TV. Enjoy the awesomeness. :)

Only one problem: Channel Ten are currently concerningly behind compared to the US. We've only seen the first few of season four, and from what I hear, the US are almost finished. GRRRRR. Nothing could make me more seriously pissed. I'm sure I'm not the only one over here who feels this way, either. The Channel Ten Supernatural section has been filled with comments of dismay and threats, pointing out the loss of viewers, begging the channel to bring our favourite boys back.

This sucks. Big time. BRING IT BACK.

Summary (tv.com): Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester, two brothers who travel the country looking for their missing father and battling evil spirits along the way.

Sam Winchester is a college student bound for law school, determined to escape his family's past - unlike his older brother, Dean. Ever since they were little their father has been consumed with an obsession to find the evil forces that murdered his beloved wife, in result recruiting and training his two young sons to help him in revenge. They have grown up as hunters of the supernatural. Sam escaped under the premise of going to college, and now has a happy life with his girlfriend, Jessica, and a promising future career. Dean, however, stayed behind with his father to join him in his "hunting".

Dean goes to Sam for help when their father goes missing. Now Sam must join his brother to find him. His one weekend trip to search for the missing John Winchester becomes an ongoing quest after a horrible tragedy ruins any thought of a happy life for Sam.

The two brothers, bound by tragedy and blood to their mission, travel across the country encountering terrifying and dangerous forces most believe to be nothing but superstition and folklore, such as the Lady in White, the Indian beast known as the Wendigo, Phantom Travelers who cause plane crashes, Bloody Mary, vampires, demons and many more.

From Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (Charlie's Angels, The O.C.), writer/executive producer Eric Kripke (Boogeyman) and Robert Singer (Midnight Caller).

Catty: Draft #1

I printed a first draft of Catty a little while ago, and every now and then I would pull it out and go through all my mistakes/write more material, but I would only get about five minutes! Yesterday I really attacked it, pointing out mistakes and replacing words with better ones. It was a little painful to have to detach myself from it and attack it, but that was the only way I could really edit it properly.

(New snippets are in italics)

Tim glanced around then, and spotted Shelly.
In that instance, time stopped.
Shelly's knees turned to jelly.
Student's voices became lower, monster-like. Movements besides her own and Tim's became slower, resembling snails.
Tim's eyes locked onto her own; bright, grass green, confident, happy. And unobstructed by his glasses.
And to Shelly, those were all that existed to her.

Junk like that. I won't be putting up more today. But the book is REALLY moving along.

"Strange and Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)" by Aqualung

FANTASTIC song. Beyond fantastic. The lyrics may come off as a bit obsessive, but the music cancels it out. It's wonderful, magically enchanting.

The song can be found here (although it's live, so it's no too great, but I couldn't find the acutal video because YouTube took it off for some reason), and I found a marvellous cover over here.

This is the very song that I set Exhaustion to (which can be found here), and quite rightly too - Violet suffers from insomnia as a result of losing Klaus and Sunny: and Quigley, who had been planning to propose to Violet, can't cope properly. It ends in tragedy, but the song fits right in, right down to the lyrics.

I find this particular verse ironic, if it's from Quigley's point of view. Violet can't fall asleep, and therefore "can't realise that she loves him".

NCIS

Possibly one of the best shows ever. LOVE.

The crimes solved, Gibbs, Abby in general, McGee, Tony, Ziva and Kate when she was alive. It's ALL great. I can't express how much I love this show - though not the only one I love, I still love it equally.

The McAbby pairing might even be better than Quiglet.

The only bad thing is that Australia have the disadvantage for viewing new eps. We always get everything before America, which sucks tremendously. If anyone can give me links to watch them, please! They'll be welcome. Why can't we ALL get everything at the EXACT SAME TIME? It's not fair.

Summary (from Wikipedia):

NCIS is a television show that follows a fictional team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service Major Case Response Team (MCRT) special agents, headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. It is described by the actors and producers (on special features on DVD releases in the USA) as being distinguished by its comedy elements, ensemble acting and character-driven plots.
NCIS is the primary law enforcement and counter-intelligence arm of the United States Department of the Navy, which includes the United States Marine Corps. NCIS investigates all major criminal offenses (felonies), those crimes punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice by confinement of more than one year, within the Department of the Navy. This can be seen when the “NCIS team” is frequently assigned to high-profile cases such as the death of the President's military aide, a bomb situation on a U.S. Navy warship, the death of a celebrity on a reality show set on a USMC base, terrorist threats, and kidnappings.
The “NCIS team” is led by Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Gibbs’ team is composed of Special Agent and Senior Field Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Mossad Liaison Officer Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), who replaced Caitlin 'Kate' Todd (Sasha Alexander) when she was shot by Ari Haswari (Rudolf Martin) at the end of season two. Ari himself is then killed by his half- sister Ziva in the beginning of season three. The team is assisted in their investigations by Chief Medical Examiner Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) and Assistant Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
NCIS is currently led by Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll). The first Director seen in the series, Thomas Morrow (Alan Dale) left after a promotion to Deputy Director of DHS. Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly) was appointed Director after Morrow; she was killed in a shootout at the end of the fifth season.

Vampires

A really good - no, GREAT - online application game. For those of you into the concept of being a vampire, this is an excellent roleplay. Many special abilities and the ability to turn your friends into vampires too - making an unstoppable, numerous clan to fight opponents. Go on missions, fight others, and one of the most rewarding features: turning people into vampires as your Minions (from bums and high school football teams to SWAT teams and law firms!). They supply you with an income per hour - of BLOOD (what else was it going to be?) - which you'll need to buy more abilities and minions.

This game has meters that refill your energy (for your missions), rage/health (for combat) gradually, and you need some patience for this game - you CAN'T play this in a 2 hour block. Despite this, a fantastic game to play.

Avaliable as an application on MySpace and Facebook.

PS: Totally forgot about the avatars!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Some of the clothes are great, but there's limited choice right now. The Zynga team are yet to release a new page for clothing, but this to your left is my current avatar. They're not bad right now, but the better ones must be awesome!

Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a good time eating chocolate and celebrating the Resurrection.

. . . I hope we'll all be resurrected at one point.

Catty Playlist

One thing unique about my writing is my music incorporation, and it hasn't stopped with the other of my works. Here I supply you with the official playlist for Catty. It's also avaliable on the main page, but not in its entity. You'll have to pop it out.

Enjoy.

Catty

Catty is the name of the book I am attempting.

It's about a girl called Shelly (I couldn't resist using the name) who doesn't care what people think. She, through the course of fate, meets her other half, finds that people can be very wrong in their thinking and finds that she has an inner darkness from within: perhaps as trauma from her unique history and particular lifestyle.

I put a lot of myself into Shelly: perhaps because I've always wanted to be able to act without consequence and not care what people think. But while writing this book I've realised that while not caring what people think is not necessarily bad, it cuts you off from feeling and understanding people altogether. And I don't want to live like that - no way.

The book is still in the works, but it's almost finished. Needs a lot of fine tuning and junk. But I want this message 'spread to the people', so to speak.

667 Dark Avenue

A brilliant website. In my opinion, it's probably the biggest Lemony Snicket fansite there can be: and I'm not just saying that because I'm a member.

The people are great, the design is great: it's just really great. I recommend it.

Post Euphoria/Pre-Dysphoria

The songfiction series after A Series of Quiglet Events, except less Quiglet focused, almost like an A Series of Quiglet Events 2.0.

Wider range of character development and fresh new music, but still with a hit of the Quiglet pairing.

A Series of Quiglet Events

The very songfiction series that really defined not only my writing career, but also myself.

Numerous artists, numberous chapters. All comments MUST go in this blog unless you're a memer of 667 Dark Avenue (if that is the case, please comment here).

Introduction

I'm Michelle, otherwise known as Shelly and Mishy Moo, but the latter is reserved for my favourite aunt and a couple of close friends.

Hey.

This is already weird.

I might talk a little about my writing. Songfics (for those reaching for the dictionary, that's fiction twined through song lyrics, so that they both fit: if you listen to the song while reading it, an almost emotional atmosphere is created) happen to be my specialty.

I used A Series of Unfortunate Events characters by Lemony Snicket as a big jump off, as being a member of 667 Dark Avenue (a big fansite about the series, and is still going strong after about three years since the series ended), where a majority of my writing - okay, most of my writing originated. For a couple of year I was fixated on the Quigley/Violet couple - and A Series of Quiglet Events was born: hence the name of this blog - quiglety madness . . . and beyond.

Now, almost three years later, things have turned into a whirlwind of colour and sound. Here I sit, typing these words. My 667er friends are possibly friends I've made for life as I close in on my 4th year anniversary as a member. The whirlwind is all the more unreal when I'm referred to as "the fanfic queen".

Truth is, I'm a teen who stumbled apon an effective way to express herself.

A Series of Quiglet Events is over now, but with about the equivalent of two years' worth of emotion captured in the work I love. Many people gave me grief about ending ASOQE, but they had no idea what it meant.

It's not an ending. It's a beginning.

Post-Euphoria/Pre-Dysphoria followed. Another songfiction series, but less Quiglet.

And I'm also attempting a book. Attempting is the key word.

Although this is a blog, it is like sailing off into uncharted waters - I don't know if it'll be read or not. But unless we take chances, we won't find what we're looking for. And I set up this blog because I know I want to look back on my life and be proud of my discoveries and work.

A diary is too conventional, too traditional.

And you can bear witness to my quest to discover myself.
